Precision Bright Steel Tube Manufacturing Process
14 Jul,2019
It is a high-precision steel pipe material produced through cold drawing or hot rolling. Thanks to its characteristics—such as the absence of an oxide layer on both the inner and outer surfaces, leak‑free performance under high pressure, exceptional precision and surface finish, resistance to deformation during cold bending, and the ability to undergo flaring or flattening without cracking—it is primarily used in the manufacture of pneumatic and hydraulic components, such as air cylinders and hydraulic cylinders. These components can be made from seamless tubing or welded pipe. The chemical composition of precision steel pipes includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), and chromium (Cr).
The pronunciation of precision steel pipes in various countries
China: precision steel tube Spain: precision steel tube French: the precision steel tube
The difference between precision steel tubes and seamless steel tubes
1. Seamless steel pipes are characterized by the absence of weld seams and can withstand high pressures. They may be produced as rough‑cast or cold‑drawn components. 2. Precision steel pipes are a relatively recent development, distinguished by tight dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements for both the inner bore and outer wall.
Characteristics of Cold-Drawn Precision Steel Tubes
1. Smaller outer diameter. 2. High precision, suitable for small-batch production. 3. Cold-drawn finished products offer high dimensional accuracy and excellent surface quality. 4. The cross-sectional geometry of the steel pipe is more complex. 5. Steel pipes exhibit superior mechanical properties and a denser microstructure.
The differences after hot-rolled precision steel pipe processing
Hot‑rolled precision steel pipes are produced from continuous‑casting round billets, slab billets, or initial‑rolling slabs as raw materials. After being heated in a walking‑beam furnace and descaled with high‑pressure water, the material enters the roughing mill. The rough‑rolled strip is then trimmed at both ends before being sent to the finishing mill, where computer‑controlled rolling is employed. Following final rolling, the strip undergoes laminar cooling and is coiled into straight‑drawn coils. These straight‑drawn coils typically exhibit tongue‑shaped and fishtail‑shaped ends, with relatively poor thickness and width tolerances, and their edges often show defects such as waviness, edge folding, and tower‑like distortions. They are characterized by heavier coil weights and an inner diameter of 760 mm. After undergoing a finishing line that includes end trimming, edge trimming, and multiple passes of straightening and flattening, the straight‑drawn coils are either cut into sheets or recoiled, yielding products such as hot‑rolled steel plates, flattened hot‑rolled steel coils, and slit strips. If these hot‑rolled finished coils are pickled to remove oxide scale and subsequently oiled, they become hot‑rolled pickled sheet coils.
