Stainless steel tubes for food machinery Scope of application and processing methods
Stainless steel tubing for food machinery is a widely used chromium–nickel stainless steel. As a versatile material, it offers excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low‑temperature strength, and mechanical properties, along with good hot‑working characteristics—such as stamping and bending—without requiring heat treatment to harden it (operating temperature range: −196°C to 800°C). It exhibits atmospheric corrosion resistance; however, in industrial atmospheres or heavily polluted environments, regular cleaning is necessary to prevent corrosion. It is suitable for food processing, storage, and transportation.
It exhibits excellent machinability and weldability. Applications include plate heat exchangers, corrugated pipes, household products (such as Class 1 and Class 2 tableware, cabinets, indoor piping, water heaters, boilers, and bathtubs), automotive components (including windshield wipers, mufflers, and molded parts), medical devices, construction materials, chemical processing equipment, the food industry, agriculture, and marine components. Grade 304 stainless steel is a nationally approved food-grade stainless steel. Carshi Pipe is a specialized company engaged in the fabrication of various stainless steel pipes and pipe systems, offering one-stop services for the design and installation of piping systems.

Most application requirements aim to preserve the building’s original appearance over the long term. When selecting a stainless steel grade, the primary considerations are the desired aesthetic standards, the corrosivity of the local atmosphere, and the cleaning system to be employed. However, an increasing number of applications prioritize structural integrity or impermeability—such as roofs and side walls in industrial buildings. In these cases, construction costs may take precedence over aesthetics, and surface cleanliness is less critical. In dry indoor environments, 304 stainless steel performs quite well. Yet in rural and urban settings, maintaining its appearance outdoors requires frequent cleaning. In heavily polluted industrial zones and coastal areas, the surface can become extremely dirty and even develop rust.
However, to achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance in outdoor environments, it is necessary to use nickel-containing stainless steels. Consequently, 304 stainless steel is widely employed for curtain walls, side walls, roofs, and other architectural applications. Meanwhile, 316 stainless steel is preferred in highly corrosive industrial or marine settings. The advantages of using stainless steel in structural applications are well established, and certain design standards incorporate both 304 and 316 grades. Moreover, the duplex stainless steel grade 2205, with its excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and superior yield strength, has also been included in European standards. In fact, Stainless steel tubes for food machinery They are manufactured using fully standardized metal shapes and dimensions, with many specialized forms available. Common products are made from thin steel sheet and strip, while special‑purpose items are produced from medium‑ and thick‑gauge plate, such as hot‑rolled structural steel and extruded structural steel. Additionally, there are round, oval, square, rectangular, and hexagonal welded or seamless steel tubes, along with other product forms, including sections, bars, wire, and castings.
