Stainless steel pipes for food machinery What is it?
Stainless steel products that come into contact with food are commonly referred to as food-grade or hygienic-grade stainless steel and are primarily used in production equipment and processing lines for the food, beverage, alcohol, and biotechnology industries. Food-grade stainless steel refers to stainless steel materials that comply with the national standard of the People’s Republic of China, “Hygiene Standard for Stainless Steel Tableware and Containers” (GB 9684-88), with lead and chromium levels significantly lower than those of ordinary stainless steel. This standard stipulates that the parts of food-processing machinery that directly contact food must meet specific food-safety requirements. Since food production often involves the use of various acids and alkalis, and stainless steel contains chromium, substandard stainless steel may leach chromium at varying rates, which is toxic. In addition, the content of alloying impurities such as lead and cadmium must also be strictly limited. Stainless steel pipes for food machinery It is an excellent pipe for conveying potable water. With its low leakage rate, it helps conserve precious water resources. In the 1980s, the leakage rate of water pipes was approximately 17%; after switching to stainless steel piping, this figure dropped to 7%.

The water supply system was damaged during the earthquake, but the stainless steel piping remained intact. Moreover, compared with copper pipes, stainless steel pipes offer superior hydraulic performance and are resistant to corrosion even at high flow rates. Their thermal insulation properties are 24 times greater than those of copper pipes.
Stainless steel pipes for food machinery It has the following 10 characteristics.
1. Stainless steel water pipes are made from a food-grade, biocompatible material that can be safely implanted in the human body. They prevent secondary contamination of drinking water, ensure water safety, and protect against secondary pollution. Additionally, they effectively inhibit bacterial growth, creating an environment in which bacteria and microorganisms cannot survive.
2. Stainless steel water pipes are heat-resistant, and the material remains harmless at high temperatures, ensuring the health and safety of the water.
3. Stainless steel water pipes boast high material strength, capable of withstanding instantaneous pressures up to 89 MPa, and are resistant to aging, rusting, and corrosion.
4. Stainless steel water pipes have a high pressure‑bearing capacity, capable of withstanding pressures up to 2.5 MPa. They are particularly well suited for high‑rise building water supply systems.
5. Stainless steel water pipes boast exceptional durability and a service life of up to 100 years. Like buildings, they rarely require maintenance. In general, they can be safely put into service immediately after installation and remain safe for long-term use.
6. Stainless steel pipe installation is simple and convenient: it takes just 15 seconds to form, requires no on-site electrical connection, and makes the job easier and safer for workers.
7. Stainless steel water pipes are more aesthetically pleasing and convey a higher level of sophistication, enhancing the overall quality of the building and boosting its marketability.
8. Stainless steel water pipes have a low leakage rate and typically pose no risk of leaks. The threaded compression‑fitting technology ensures that the piping system remains leak‑free at all times.
9. Excellent ductility; resistant to damage and deformation.
10. The inner wall of stainless steel water pipes is smooth, resistant to scale buildup, and does not impede water flow.
